Hello, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the original plan for the long haul. As with countless expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began forging something that felt steady.
Why I Built Sage Plume Harbor
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- A travel authority resource
- Paid-review platform
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
